Butthole Central, St. Inigoes, MD

"That place took years off my life!" - Mike Broglio

In its heyday, Butthole Central was one of St. Mary's premier party locations. By day it was simply an apartment rented by a number of students. But at night, its massive living room was transformed into a living, breathing, partying organism. Super-DJ Mike Broglio provided continuous incredibly loud dance music. So loud, in fact, that the townie bar next door would complain. Absolute Value was frequently the house band.

At the very top of this picture (barely visible), note the disco ball of death (a full-length mirror that had been twisted around onto itself leaving huge shards of glass barely attached to the cardboard backing and sticking out in all directions). Also note at the very bottom what appears to be Mike Broglio, DJ-extraordinaire, reclining on the couch playing the recorder.

Butthole Central featured a fully-stocked kitchen where partygoers could feast on raw eggs and other highly questionable delicacies. John Starmer was oftentimes seen here engaging in various biology/art projects.

"It was not an 'utter hell hole'. It just smelled like one." - Christo

More from Mike: "As a final note, I did in fact get our security deposit back when I moved out, even though John left a breeding colony of white mice in the furnace room!"

Anecdotes, anyone?
